About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chair for its Department of Biomedical Engineering. The successful candidate will be a full-time tenured faculty member in the department, providing strategic leadership and remaining active in research. The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the company is dedicated to the integration of engineering and physical sciences with biology to advance the understanding of biomedical problems and drive the development of therapeutics, diagnostics, and medical devices. The Chair will be responsible for expanding the department's curricular offerings, developing new degree programs, and expanding research in areas of national importance, particularly those related to artificial intelligence, medicine, healthcare, energy, and sustainability. Applicants for the Chair position must have an earned doctorate in a relevant discipline, a distinguished record of research, teaching, and academic mentoring, and a proven track record of scholarship. The role requires excellent leadership and management abilities, as well as a commitment to collaborative and inclusive leadership. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in academic leadership, administrative experience, and a successful track record in fundraising. The Chair will be expected to inspire and mentor faculty, staff, and students, and to promote the interests of the entire department. Senior researchers from industry or government with a strong professional leadership background are also encouraged to apply.
